What is Required for Wireless Access?
At this time, University Technology Services supports
Windows 2000 (Service Pack 4), Windows XP (Service Pack 2),
along with Mac OS 10.2 or higher on the USC Wireless
Network. Other operating systems
may not be as compatible on the network. Internal or external
wireless cards are needed to access the wireless network. The
following external wireless cards are strongly recommended by
University Technology Services:
External Cards
Linksys WPC55AG PC
Netgear WAG5111 802.11a/b/g Dual Band PC
Cisco Aironet 802.11a/b/g CardBus LAN
Internal Cards
Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200 Internal Wireless
Intel® PRO/Wireless 2915 Internal Wireless
Apple Airport Extreme (b & g)
Apple Airport (b)

Also required are: Current Critical Operating System Updates,
Virus Protection (available free-of-charge to all current
students, faculty and staff) and a Cisco VPN Client. Please

information on how to install these.
