Installing the NETGEAR Dual-Band Wireless Software

  1. Insert the Setup CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive. The Setup Wizard should run automatically and the NETGEAR Smart Wizard Wireless Utility window should appear on your desktop. A window similar to the following will appear:



    Note: If the Welcome screen doesn’t appear then click the Start button and then choose Run. In the field that appears, enter D:\setup.exe (this assumes that “D” is the letter of your CD-ROM drive).
     
  2. Click the Install Driver & Utility link. A window similar to the following will appear:


     
  3. Click Next to continue the installation. A window similar to the following will appear:


     
  4. Select United States, and then click Next. A window similar to the following will appear:


     
  5. Click the OK button. A window similar to the following will appear:


     
  6. After reading the License Agreement, click Next to continue the installation. A window similar to the following will appear:


     
  7. Click Next to use NETGEAR’s default folder destination location. A window similar to the following will appear:


     
  8. Click Next to add NETGEAR’s program icon to NETGEAR’s default Program Folder destination location. A window similar to the following will appear:


     
  9. Click Finish to complete the installation. (If prompted to restart your computer, do so.)

Installing the NETGEAR Dual-Band Wireless Card

  1. Locate an available CardBus slot on your notebook PC.
     
  2. With the wireless card label facing up, slide it completely into the CardBus slot on your notebook PC.
     
  3. After a short delay, the Found New Hardware Wizard will appear. A window similar to the following will appear:
     
  4. You will be prompted to enable the NETGEAR Smart Wizard Wireless Utility configuration utility. A window similar to the following will appear:


     
  5. Click Yes to accept this option. (If prompted to restart your computer, do so.)
     
  6. After installing the wireless card, the NETGEAR Dual-Band Wireless icon will appear in the system tray, which is located at the bottom right corner of your screen.
     
  7. Click the NETGEAR Dual-Band Wireless icon in the system tray to open the Smart Wizard Wireless Utility. A window similar to the following will appear:


     
  8. Change the Network Name (SSID) to USC’s SSID. Click Apply to activate the connection.
    Note: If you are unaware of your SSID, it can be obtained via VIP.
     
  9. Once the NETGEAR Dual-Band Wireless Card associates with one of USC’s Access Points (AP’s), the NETGEAR Dual-Band Wireless icon should appear green instead of red.
