Configuring Internal Network Card: Mac OS X versions 10.2.x and 10.3.x.

  1. If the card is properly installed there is an icon in the menu bar showing its presence.

    1. Turn the card on.

    2. Confirming card functionality.

    3. If the card is on and functioning but not associated with any particular network the light should be yellow (If red the card has not been turned on or is not functioning properly.).

  2. Joining the appropriate Network.

    1. Guest SSID

    2. Student SSID

    3. Faculty Staff SSID

  3. Click the Apply button once the SSID has been entered successfully. Once that has been done there are two places you can visually check for indications that you have successfully joined the wireless network.

One place is the menu bar checking for signal strength… these should be excellent to Good black signal bars. If they are grey you have not successfully joined the wireless network.

The second is in the System Preferences (Where is this? See Step Two: Part Two) …there should be a green light beside the Airport connection. If not then you have not successfully joined the wireless network.
