We have introduced the network validation solution to alleviate the impact that virus storms and worm attacks will have on our network.  The solution will check each Windows workstation upon connection to the residence hall network to ensure that the workstation is current with both operating systems patches and anti-virus software.  The benefit of this solution will be improved network availability and a secure computing environment.

NOTE:  Microsoft file sharing features have been disabled for the student residential network as a security precaution.  As it provides an added layer of protection from viruses and worm attacks, we intend to maintain this setting throughout the semester.
