WHAT'S NEW?
| POP BEING DISCONTINUED |
| |
Effective the week of March 7, 2004, we
will discontinue the use of POP as a means of retrieving
GroupWise mail. If you currently POP your GroupWise mail
into another mail client, you have three options to
retrieve your mail after POP is discontinued — 1) You can
reconfigure your email client to use the IMAP4 protocol to
retrieve your GroupWise mail, or 2) You can use the
GroupWise Windows client, or 3) You can use GroupWise
WebAccess.
IMAP4 is a newer protocol which offers benefits over POP.
Unlike POP, which downloads email messages to the hard
drive of the computer, IMAP4 allows email messages to
reside on the server giving you the ability to manage your
messages from different computers. You can access your
email messages at home, in the office, and while
traveling, without the need to transfer messages or files
back and forth between different computers.
For more information regarding IMAP4 or for assistance, contact the UTS HelpDesk at 803-777-1800 or online at https://helpdesk.uts.sc.edu. Following are step-by-step instructions for re-configuring your email client:
