ACCESSING GROUPWISE: CLIENTS
Cross-Platform Client
The GroupWise cross-platform client brings the power of the
GroupWise client to Linux and Macintosh desktops. USC is beta
testing this new client, which includes the following
features:
*Operating system independent client software
*Multi-user and multi-session enabled
*Address book import/export utility
*Integrated client software
*Easy integration with antivirus software
*Integrated lock-function for secure standby mode
*User defined startup attributes
*User-friendly interface to setup integrated preview
applications
*Integrated log-file functionality
*Integrated SMS messaging
*Flexible calendar print-out
*Familiar, intuitive interface
*SSL and security for sending and receiving messages
The client requires Java Virtual Machine 1.4.1, and leverages
Apple's Swing APIs for an "aqua" look and feel when run on Mac
OS X.
Novell’s objective is to provide end-users with full feature
parity regardless of their desktop operating system. USC’s
participation in this beta will help Novell reach that goal
and ensure a seamless cross-platform GroupWise experience.
Windows Operating System
The GroupWise Windows client is used by most Windows users in
their offices at USC. However, did you know that you can use
the same GroupWise Windows client at home? All you need is
access to the Internet and the GW client software. For
information on acquiring the GroupWise Windows client software
or for more information, contact the UTS Help Desk at (803)
777-1800 or online at https://helpdesk.uts.sc.edu.
WebAccess
GroupWise WebAccess allows you to access your GroupWise
account from anywhere you have Internet access. The USC
WebAccess URL is http://web.gwm.sc.edu (Note: Some
college/departments have a different URL for WebAccess.).
WebAccess allows you to perform many of the same functions you
do with the desktop client, such as send and receive mail,
view your calendar, accept and decline appointments, proxy to
another account, etc. Viewing archived items or moving items
to your archive folder is not available in WebAccess. |
