Keeping your staff, faculty, and student lab computer systems running efficiently is key to productivity, administration, and communciations. University Technology Services offers comprehensive computer systems support for your organization.

Our technicians have experience in working with a wide array of desktops, laptops, servers, printers, scanners, and other digital devices. We can also work with you to resolve issues with data security, computer performance, and interoperability with University systems and devices such as smart phones.

The UTS Desktop Support Service Level Agreement provides you with comprehensive and competent technical support. It also helps you budget more effectively for technology services with fixed IT maintenance expenditures.

Our technicians can service and provide regular scheduled maintenance on the following:

• Apple and PC computer systems, including warrantee service
• Educational computer labs and equipment
• Peripheral devices, such as printers, scanners, and digital devices
• File/print/application servers and network systems, including data backup

And that's not all! Our project teams can also help you plan out your IT infrastructure -including future upgrades, cost projections, equipment purchases, and implementation timelines.

UTS Tape Library and Computer Room

UTS provides operational support for all centrally located computing systems including:

• zOS
• zVM
• IMS
• DB2
• USCAN
• VIP
• OnDemand
• Content Manager
• TSO

Hardware for these systems include:

• Hitachi 9980V Storage Array Subsystem (50 TB RAID-5 Storage)
• Hitachi AMS storage Array Subsystem (120 TB RAID-5 Storage)
• 2 Cisco 9509 Fiber channel directors
• 2 CISCO 9513 Fiber channel directors (to provide a storage area network for up 432 network ports)
• 220 Infrastructure to hosted servers attached to the Storage area network, network with UPS power
• 1 IBM 3494 Automated Tape Library with (10) 3590-B1A Tape Drives (1000 cartridge capacity, 60 GB/cartridges compressed) on the native side and (6) 3590-H1A Tape Drives (1200 cartridge capacity, up to 180 GB/cartridge compressed) on the virtual side
• 1 SCANTRON

Operating systems supported:

Computer room personnel operate 24 hours a day/7 days a week. We work with various groups on such items as data communication problems, backbone problems, hardware and software problems.

This group also maintains the Tape Library which houses approximately thirty thousand real and virtual tape volumes with a mixture of IBM type tapes and cartridges. This area is staffed on a rotating basis by the first shift Computer Room staff.
