Tools for Research
University Technology Services offers support on the most common research tools for academia. Analytical software, such as SAS and SPSS offer extensive online support, and the links can be found here. Conferencing ServicesUTS can provide a variety of conferencing services for faculty, staff, and student organizations for meetings, group collaboration, and training. From video conferencing in enhanced classrooms, to telephone conferencing, to web meetings with Adobe Connect Pro, we can help you meet with colleagues wherever they are. ICPSRThe Inter-university Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) is an organization of over 500 institutions around the world. The organization exists to acquire, archive, and disseminate social science data relevant to a wide spectrum of disciplines. The University of South Carolina maintains an annual membership, and offers access to ICPSR data to students, facults and staff for university-sponsored research. South Carolina's membership also gives researchers use of other ICPSR services, such as online data analysis, reduced rates for ICPSR training modules. Faculty at South Carolina can create user accounts for students to access ICPSR instructional tools in research and data analysis. OneNote lets you gather typed notes, emails, documents, web web links and text, audio clips, and video into an electronic notebook. You can organize the information quickly, and run specific searches using a powerful search engine. It is an effective tool for gathering research, building dissertations and journal articles, and collaborating with groups. It can also be used in the teaching environment for assembling course materials, building lesson plans, and tracking class interactions. Your SharePoint workspace is protected by a secure login, and individual members can be granted or restricted access to general or specific features, including individual documents. University Technology Services will host your SharePoint site on our secure server system, which is monitored on a 24/7 basis.
